What is the difference in the gold that would be in aclass ring made in 1937 versus a class ring made in 2011? I was told that the gold from the 1937 ring could make 3 rings by todays standards. Thanks for your help.

I am trying to research which type of gold to invest in. I think I understand the different reasons for investors but I would like to study what Gold and coins have actually done. I can go to many different sites to find historical gold prices. (Spot) Where can I go to research what some of the more popular numismatic coins have done, such as the $20 St.Gaudens or Double Eagle over the last ten to twenty years or so? I have asked several brokers for this information but they really hedge on giving it out. I just hear how much coins outgrow bullion. Do they or is it just the higher commission that makes the difference to them?

When I was in my teens we had a ranch in the Colorado High Country.
That was in the 1950’s. The ranch was sold,,, however, I found gold there and at that time it was against the law to own it. I used to fill my mothers empty peanut butter jars up with the nuggets..yes..big nuggets of gold and she took them to Denver and had them assayed and blackmarket sold them, at $32.00 an ounce.
I never disclosed where I found it and it has never been found by anyone. Being as the ranch is owned by someone else and they do not know they are sitting on billions of dollars..is there any safe way to cash in on this knowledge I have. The gold nuggets are so large, mining is not even needed.
There is a small per cent of silver mixed with it as well.
I fear just telling them and getting a bullet in my head.
Any suggestions?

I’m sitting in a bush pub in Rokewood, Victoria, Australia where I can see a photo of a gold nugget called “The Orange Roughy” found just across the creek in 1987. I’ll tell you now that nature is a funny thing because that “Washington Nugget” is EXACTLY the same as the one sold in USA. A remarkable coincidence? I don’t think so. Smells like rotten fish to me. Rotten orange roughy perhaps?

1 grain is equal to the weight of a single grain of wheat from the center of the head of wheat at harvest.

A dollar is a unit of weight measurement. It is more correct to say (ask) for a dollar silver not a silver dollar. The weight of one dollar silver was/is 475 and 4/16 grains of standard silver.

Hello. What do you know about Geodes? Found a couple nice chunks going through my late dad’ stuff. One is a hefty chunk of amythyst, nice blue color,the other is a good sized half round half-bowl of quartz. Any ideas? I put them on craigslist but didn’t get any bites.

First of all don’t use this Guy, my Mother call him 3 times to come look a ring she had we made 2 appoitments with Sam and both times he did not show up or even call us to say he wasn’t going to be there, we waited all day and finally gave up. Really nice guy! I called to ask about some coin values as I had no idea and he was able to tell me on the phone by asking certain questions the value of the coins. Can you tell me what the meaning is of “100 Mills” stamped on a gold bar? Is this the millesimal fineness of the gold or does it have an association with the weight measure “gram” example “milligram” which is 1/10 of a gram? I have asked several people what percentage of an ounce of gold is 100 Mills but nobody ever gives me a straight answer. In Canada our gold coins are simply stamped what percentage of an ounce they are.But 100 Mills really makes no sense.
