Who was the Hortensia Diamond Named For?
King Louix XIV purchased this unique diamond as an addition to the Crown Jewels of France. The Hortensia Diamond weighs 20 carats (20.53 metric carats).
It is a flat, light pink diamond with an orangy tone.
The Hortensia Diamond has a five-sided outline that is marred by a “feather” (a very fine crack) which runs from the outer edge (the girdle) to the facet at the base of the diamond (the cutlet).
The diamond first appeared in 1691 as the foremost diamond in the third of the 19 florets of buttonholes listed in the inventory of the Crown Jewels of France.

Koh-I-Noor Diamond: A Rare Diamond with a Long History and a Curse
The 105-carat Koh-I-Noor Diamond was discovered in the Kollur mines near the village Kollur in the present-day Guntur district of Andhra Pradesh in India, sometime in the 1200s. It has a long and colorful history.
It is believed that the Koh-i-Noor carries with it a curse which affects men who wear it, but not women. All the men who owned it have either lost their throne or had other misfortunes befall them. Queen Victoria is the only reigning monarch to have worn the gem. Since Victoria’s reign, the stone has generally been worn by the British Queen Consort, never by a male ruler.

Steinmetz Sirius Diamond
Discovered in South Africa’s legendary Premier Mine, the 103.83-carat cushion-shaped Steinmetz Sirius Diamond is described by gemologists as “Type IIa, D-color,” which is the highest color grade any diamond can acquire. It was given the highest clarity grade and is considered “Internally Flawless,” adding even further to its rarity.
The process of planning, designing, and cutting the rough crystal, which took place in Johannesburg and New York, required more than eighteen months to complete and was done by the Steinmetz Group. The cushion shape was chosen as a tribute to the world-renowned Hope Diamond.
