What are colloidal minerals?

In my last post, I was telling you about this great health-related discovery I made while researching rare earth minerals.  If you are going to try any of Youngevity’s products to see if you get similar positive health, energy, rejuvenating results, it’s important for you to understand what colloidal minerals are, because these are the safest minerals to take.

The term “colloidal” refers to the particle size.  Colloids are extremely small, sometimes as much as 700 times smaller than a red blood cell!  The smaller the particle, the greater the ease of absorption into the body.

Organic colloidal minerals are minerals directly from plants grown in mineral-rich soils. They are 98% absorbable. When minerals are drawn up into the plant through its root system, the bio-electrical charge of the element is altered from positive to negative. This is important because the linings of our small intestines are positively charged. A magnetic gradient is established which effectively pulls in the needed nutrient. This, too, accounts for the high absorbability of liquid, organic colloidal minerals.

Be careful! Don’t be fooled into buying mineral supplements that simply claim to be “colloidal.” The term “colloidal” refers only to the very small particle size of the minerals used in these products. A far more important determinant of both the absorbability and safety of a mineral is whether or not the mineral is “organic” (i.e., derived from plant sources). Organic colloidal minerals are up to 20 times more absorbable and non-toxic when compared to inorganic colloidal minerals.

It is a sad fact of the marketplace that many of the products being marketed as colloidal minerals are, in fact, inorganic colloidal minerals.  Some companies, for example, get their product from inappropriate sources, from ancient sea beds or clay deposits rather than directly from plants. Some companies water down their minerals or spike their product with metallic minerals to boost spectrographic readings.

However, that’s not the case with Youngevity products.  Their minerals come directly from plant sources and are not watered down.
