Who is Dr. Joel Wallach, B.S., D.V.M., N.D.?
Dr. Joel Wallach is the founder of Youngevity. Here are his background and his credentials.
Born and raised in Missouri, Dr. Joel Wallach attended the University of Missouri where he received a Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree in Agriculture in 1962. He majored in Animal Husbandry (nutrition) and minored in Field Crops and Soil.
He then received his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) degree from the University of Missouri in 1964, followed by a 3-year Post-Doctoral Fellowship in Comparative Medicine/Pathology at The Center for the Biology of Natural Systems at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri.
A veterinarian for 40 years, he worked as a research veterinary pathologist with The National Institute of Health in Bethesda, Maryland.
Having discovered and identified the first animal models for cystic fibrosis (monkeys) he found that he could reproduce their condition at will because it was a nutritional deficiency.
His find offered great promise for children with the disease, but when he made it public, the Institute fired him with only a 24-hour notice. That is when Dr. Wallach made the decision to go to medical school so he could treat children for cystic fibrosis himself.
Realizing that a traditional medical school was likely to be as repressive as the National Institute of Health, he accepted an invitation to teach nutrition at The National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Oregon, not even knowing what a naturopathic doctor was.
When he learned that he could be a primary care physician (deliver babies, sew up wounds, write prescriptions, and get paid by insurance) all through a program that encouraged interest in nutrition, he simultaneously enrolled as a full-time student. In 1982 he received his Doctorate in Naturopathic Medicine (N.D.).
Dr. Wallach ‘s research has resulted in the publication of more than 70 peer-reviewed and refereed journal articles in the fields of nutrition and pharmaceutical research, and he has made major contributions to eight multi-authored text and reference books on these subjects.
He was the recipient of the 1988 Wooster Beach Gold Medal Award for significant breakthrough in the basic understanding of the cause of pathophysiology of Cystic Fibrosis awarded by the Association of Eclectic Physicians.
He was a Nobel Prize for Medicine Nominee for his stunning discoveries in the use of trace minerals to prevent catastrophic disease in the newborn.
In 1997, Dr. Wallach established his company, American Longevity (now called Youngevity), in San Diego, California. Dr. Wallach’s dream of offering a full-service Network Marketing Company for the New Millennium with the very best nutritional, household, and skin care products became a reality.
Today, Dr. Wallach continues with his mission to educate every single American and others abroad about the importance of supplementation. He presents his powerful series 300+ days each year and, without fail, broadcasts his widely-popular syndicated radio program “Dead Doctors Don’t Lie” each afternoon, live, wherever he may be.
Dr. Wallach has built his reputation on cutting-edge nutrition products, his commitment to all network marketers being able to earn a residual income for life, and to making Youngevity a family legacy for everyone.
Dr. Wallach is renowned for his groundbreaking research on the health benefits of selenium and other minerals. He currently dedicates his time to lecturing throughout the world on the therapeutic benefits of vitamins and minerals, and on lobbying the U.S. Food and Drug Administration on behalf of the dietary supplement industry.
